If your employees need to work outside in the winter, then they’re going to need warm clothes. While it’s fine to have them bring their own winter work wear, they’ll look much more professional in matching cold-weather work uniforms and this will certainly have a positive impact on the overall image of your business.
If members of your business normally wear uniforms, they’ll be covered up by regular winter clothing. Any exposure your brand would get from showing off the company’s colors and logo wherever your workers go will be lost if it’s just another layer beneath the rest. If your employees’ outerwear becomes part of the uniform, however, then they will advertise your company as they produce results.
Another advantage to such custom workwear is that many of your employees will likely make their work jacket the same jacket they wear on the streets every day, and will therefore work as free advertising for your company. Always make it clear to your employees that they’re allowed to do this even if the jackets are company property.
There are several things to keep in mind when it comes to selecting the right winter work wear for your company uniform. Waterproof or water resistant jackets are especially important for those who need to work in snow, sleet or winter rain – you don’t want anyone to be uncomfortable or to get sick while on the job.
If your employees are working in a dangerous environment, such as a construction site or in rural areas during hunting seasons, then it’s especially important to invest in high visibility clothing. Make sure to provide (or require your employees to purchase) clothing that meets regulations and suits the environment your company will be working in.
It can also be a good idea to offer your employees company fleeces or vests. These can be great for warmer winter days when a full jacket is unnecessary or as an extra layer under the jacket on colder days. These will also be useful in the fall and spring.
If you don’t want to make a uniform of winter work wear, it can still be a great idea to buy some for more limited use. Logo-embroidered clothing can make for excellent corporate gifts, for example. Alternatively, you might be able to keep some in stock at a company store. If you have a particularly attractive logo or run a business that has a gift shop, you may very well be able to make a profit off of branded winter clothing, among other things. More people wearing these clothes means your logo is showing up in more places and increasing awareness of your brand.
It makes sense to equip your employees with winter work wear that doubles as promotional clothing. Every business needs more advertising, and every worker needs the gear that’s appropriate for the conditions he or she will be working in. Consider buying winter clothing that will serve both purposes for your company today and reap the rewards for years to come.
